Where does Competition get you?

Jen Martinez has a letter from a retired Navy SEAL, Captain Larry Bailey that everyone should read! He is looking back on his experience with Arab Muslims in SEAL training and draws some very interesting conclusions.

Anyway, being the kind of curious guy I am, I often wondered why Arab Muslims couldn't hack the program. I observed at the time that it had to be something cultural, because it was clearly nothing religious. Now, some 18 years later, I think I have uncovered the secret not only of the Arabs' failure to complete SEAL training but of why they generally fail in the marketplace of ideas and material: unique among religions, Islam (or at least the Arab version) discourages competition!

The really scary part about his conclusion is the fact that this is the direction the liberal left would like to take our civilization. They've instituted things like schools with no grades, games with no winners or losers, attempting to treat all children exactly alike by "mainstreaming" and calling all children "gifted". They work on the children because they are the most easily influenced. Catch 'em young then they won't want to compete when they grow up!

If you read all of Cpt. Bailey's letter, you can see the way this could devistate our culture and our country. We are a great country because we're fighters. We work and work hard and try to outdo the other guy. It leads to bigger, better, and greater things. Remember this if your kid loses at something and is home crying. Help them learn from it to go on and do better next time. Help them learn to compete and make themselves (and our country) better. Oh yeah, and make a copy of Cpt. Bailey's letter to give yourself incentive.

That's for pointing that one out. I don't know how I missed it this morning. :)

It makes a very interesting point. And if you read Matt's piece on how children are used as weapons it points out the two main reasons for the anger and jealousy. They have no hopes or dreams. They only understand domination and will sacrifice anything and everything for that domination.

Hmmmm - got some things to mull over today!
