A very happy Blogoversary to FrankJ of IMAO! Two years ago a blog was born and FrankJ started throwing out his humorous electrons to the internet wind. Life has never been the same! His Know Thy Enemy Series has got to be some of the funniest stuff ever written! It's nearly impossible to pick just one thing, so in honor of my post yesterday about the press conference Tom Ridge held to tell us that terrorists might strike... go read A Frank Guide to Homeland Security Alert Levels. You won't be sorry you did!
And yes it does say "birthdays" above. The other birthday, even more fun than FrankJ's, belongs to my darling daughter who was born 25 years ago today. I'd tell her Happy Birthday online, except she doesn't read blogs... come to think about it, I don't think she knows I blog - LOL. So, I shall have to be conventional and buy a card.
So Harvey has this list of quiz questions that he borrowed from Lynn of Reflections in d minor. And as I was reading through them I realized... geeze I can't even pass for Trailer Trash... Thus I hang my head in shame as I post my answers to these most difficult questions!
1. UPN or Fox? Um - neither, I don't watch TV
2. roller derby or WWE? What's WWE?
3. Loretta Lynn or Tammy Wynette? Ah here's one I can answer Loretta Lynn!
4. Tony Lama or Durango? Who?
5. fried Spam or fried boloney? neither - either one will kill me although I used to eat fried baloney as a kid
6. Buck Owens or Porter Wagoner? Neither???
7. fiddle or banjo? fiddle
8. Texas or Tennessee? Texas
9. Ford or Chevy? (pickup of course) Pickup? Um okay Ford I guess.
10. extended cab or long bed? can I take regular please?
11. Tabasco or Texas Pete's? I don't think so!
12. Saints or Cowboys? Saints - I'm a St. Louis Cardinal fan from the days of the Hart/Staubach rivalry
13. baseball cap or cowboy hat? I hate wearing hats - does bad things to my hair
14. double wide or single wide? tent?
15. Wal-mart or K-mart? Walmart if I must. I loathe Kmart they always had to do price checks ALWAYS
16. "Your Cheatin' Heart" or "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"? Do I have to listen to depressing songs?
17. Gunsmoke or Bonanza? Gunsmoke - used to watch it with my dad
18. Johnny Cash or Merle Haggard? (ooooh... tough choice) Johnny Cash - anyone who can sing about a boy named Sue...
19. catfish or buffalo wings? Um... neither
20. Charlie Daniels Band or ZZ Top? Charlie Daniels! How can you top Uneasy Rider - the original and the 88 version!
21. Velvet painting: Elvis or bullfighter? Bullfighter - sorry I'm not a huge Elvis fan although some of his old movies are really fun to watch
22. Plastic sunflowers or plastic flamingos? Sorry hate them both
23. Lawn chairs: molded plastic or aluminum frame? Heh - I have some molded plastic ones
24. John Wayne or Clint Eastwood? Can I have both?
So there you have it. Sad isn't it.
So, I browsed by the New Blog Showcase tonight (yeah, like I have extra time... but there it is) and found this terrifically funny post about the Stages of Moving.
1. Denial and Isolation (but also, add Procrastination): As soon as you find out that you're going to move, you look around your house and when you realize that all these things that you have mysteriously acquired over the years (seriously, where'd it all come from though?!) will now have to somehow be removed from said house, you go into instant denial.
Go read the rest of it, you'll be so glad you did. I haven't checked out the rest of the blog yet, but if this post is anything to go by, it's a hoot!
To blogless beloved husband, who graduated today (officially) with his MBA. Technically he finished at the end of January, but the big bash with cap and gown took place today.
Beautiful day, on the lake front, terrific ceremony, lots of very proud families. It couldn't have been better.
Yesterday morning, Dana of Note-it Posts finally finally finally... did I say finally? Had her baby! Mom and young son are doing well - there's a beautiful picture too.
And across the world we go to Goldie the Drama Queen. Her sister found out a couple of weeks ago that she had a brain tumor, yesterday she underwent surgery and it was successfully removed! Sounds like her sister is doing just great - what wonderful news!
Wow - this is what is right with the world - 2 beautiful miracles happening within hours of each other.
It's Cool Blue's latest chapter of Star Chores! Find out what happens when Matt fights a dragon... does he win? Go check it out.
Yes everyone, one year ago my blog Poppa Harvey first put keyboard to blog software with the resulting Bad Money/Bad Example keeping us laughing ever since. So, grab your favorite beverage and lift a glass to Harvey! Happy Blogoversary - and may you have Many Many Many More!
Oh yeah, and a second toast to blogless Beloved Wife who hasn't forcibly taken the keyboard from her husband, the rest of us certainly thank you for your forbearance.
So yesterday I met Tammi for lunch downtown and we had a terrific day! First off I must say that although I enjoy going downtown, I don't get there very often, thus I'm not really exactly sure where most landmark things are located. So, when Tammi said I should meet her at the Palmer House hotel, I did what all good computer geeks do and googled it... LOL. Naturally, this gets me close - but I am perpetually directionally challenged and I simply couldn't find it! I ended up wandering around on State Street by Marshall Fields and leaving messages on Tammi's phone til she called back. (turns out her phone gets no signal in the lobby of the Palmer House!)
As she mentioned on her blog, summer has retreated from Chicago for the time being. It was about 60 degrees yesterday and naturally, being Chicago, the wind was blowing. (although thankfully not as hard as it could've been). So, Tammi. in her 3/4 sleeve shirt and skirt, braved the cold weather to come find me.
We had a lovely lunch - first time I've been to Heaven on Seven. Being Saturday, it was almost empty, so the servers didn't seem to mind that we stayed for a fairly long time at the table. Then we went back to the Marshall Fields on State Street. I like Field's, but I had never had time to actually go inside the downtown version. I just remembered something - my Grandmother worked at that store almost 100 years ago!!! Amazing isn't it! What beautiful buildings they used to build!
Anyway, it turned out to be a delightful day all around. I am really looking forward to the next time Tammi makes it up here - next up are the museums (at least one of them - LOL).
To dear old Blog Father Harvey! Yes, only for Harvey, would I be attempting to post coherent thoughts this early on a Sunday morning.
Now could I have written a grand tribute a couple of days ago? Details people, details! I'm lucky to actually remember something on the day it happens.
So Harvey, your gift is my tiny little google bomb and the hope that you have a very nice day with Beloved Wife.
