Somewhere on the blogosphere - and I'm sorry I can't remember where to give credit where credit is due - it was being predicted that soon Rene Gonzalez (barking moonbat leftist) would be shouting about death threats coming his way. Well that time is here and he's shouting now or rather, he has others shouting for him, since Rene seems to be hiding.
Now just in case you don't know who Rene Gonzalez is, I'll give you a brief background. He's a college student at the University of Massachusetts. He wrote what can mildly be described as a vile opinion piece for his school newspaper on the death of Pat Tillman.
Amid the array of bile he spewed forth...
"This was a "G.I. Joe" guy who got what was coming to him. That was not heroism, it was prophetic idiocy," Gonzalez wrote.
So, Rene has an opinion, his paper has incompetent editors who can't tell the difference between opinion and trashing someone's character (the character BTW of someone who is now unable to defend himself), and they all feel so virtuous for putting this dreck out there for all to read. Aren't they just the bravest little things!
Today we hear that Rene is receiving death threats. Death Threats!!! OMG - his first amendment rights are being violated - call all news media!
Dan Lamothe, the Collegian's managing editor, said yesterday that Gonzalez told the paper's staff that he had received death threats Wednesday night. The staff has not heard from Gonzalez since.
Amherst Police Lt. Scott P. Livingstone said a member of Gonzalez's family talked to officers yesterday about the threats, but did not file a formal complaint.
Yep - that sounds about right - make an undocumented, unsubstantiated accusation then slink away and hide. Well, I do believe that you might have received death threats, so why are you being coy about it? Why the call to the newspaper editor first? This has been a high profile news story, so the police would certainly take any threats seriously. And NO I do not think people should be making death threats even against you.
By your actions you call into question the existence of any threat at all. Or if a true threat has been issued, it tells me that even YOU don't take it seriously. You want people to feel sorry for you. You want to, once again, mischaracterize the First Amendment. Nope I don't see ANY government agencies at your door trying to take you into custody and put you in prison for your opinion - not a single one... imagine that. I don't even see John Ashcroft having you dragged off by your hair and throwing you into a dungeon.
After all is said and done, I can only compare your actions to those of Pat Tillman. He makes you look like a snivelling, crawling, little worm. And that's MY opinion.
